Dr BR Ambedkar: The Father of Indian Constitution

Today, on 14 April, the nation celebrates the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar. His birth anniversary is celebrated as Ambedkar Jayanti all over India. This year, the nation celebrates the 130th birth anniversary of Baba Saheb, who is also famous as the father of the Indian constitution.

Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1981. In his childhood days, he experienced many social issues which affect him. So, he wanted to bring some change to society.

For the first time, Dr. Ambedkar’s birthday was publicly celebrated in Pune in 1928

During this time, a huge life-size portrait of Dr Ambedkar was unveiled in the central hall of the Parliament building. Moreover, the government also celebrated the “Year Of Social justice” for an entire year from 14 April 1990 to 14 April 1991 in memory of BR Ambedkar. He was the one who guided and monitored the drafting committee of the Indian Constitution. The supreme law book and scripture of the democracy, which is now known as the Indian Constitution is a gift from Baba Saheb.

The nation appointed Dr Ambedkar as the chairperson of the constitution drafting committee on August 29, 1947. He wanted to make sure that India must have a responsible government formed by the representatives of the people.

Dr BR Ambedkar was a firm believer in unity. Baba Saheb wanted to eliminate the gap between the classes to maintain unity and solidarity. He wanted that every class, every caste, every religion should be treated in the same way. Well, he was the one who started this reservation system. He was the one who experiences those social difficulties, so he does not want that the nation goes through the same. Hence, he wanted to create a social balance among the different classes of the population in India.
